Dividend Payout Ratio

is known as the amount of money a company pays to shareholders in dividends from its earnings, expressed as a percentage.  An example would be if a company earning 10 dollars per share paid its shareholders 2 dollars per share annually in dividends then the payout ratio would be 20 percent.
