Aritzia

Unless you are going to cover it in your next newsletter, could you go over your decision to take profits on your ATZ position? For example, did its value in your portfolio exceed the limit you had set for it? Do you feel that WSP and WCN will outgrow ATZ in the coming years (or decades)?

Hey there. I will go over it in the newsletter yes. This wasn't my first trim of Aritzia. I believe I took profits last year as well.

I am VERY stingy on allocations to fashion retailers. This stems from me getting burnt a bit on Canada Goose back in its heyday. No matter what the trajectory of a fashion retailer, it can come crashing down hard as we've witnessed from Canada Goose, Nike, Lululemon etc. So, I keep a pretty tight allocation of 2%~ on these fashion companies. I've recouped my initial investment on Aritzia plus another 200%~ or so, so I'm investing on house money and then some. But, if the company were to run up again, I'd continue to take profits down to 2% etc.

More details on Sunday!

Thanks for that. It kind of validates the same thing I did with a very small position I have in LAC. When it ran up recently, I removed my initial investment and now I'm on "house money".
