In my opinion both are solid plays right now. However, both have unique characteristics that make them good.

Kirkland Lake I view are more of a dividend growth play. The company has a little more stability in terms of dividend growth (3 straight years vs 1) and practically doubled its dividend during its last raise. The company also mines in safe jurisdictions, Australia and Canada. While Alamos has properties in North America as well, primarily Ontario, it has developmental projects in more unstable regions like Turkey and Mexico.

In terms of growth, with Alamos being the more developmental company, I see a lot more potential in terms of price upside. But if you're looking for a strong dividend growth play and a more stable gold stock, Kirkland would be my go to.

Keep in mind, I'm long Kirkland, and Mat is long Alamos.
