I have seen few customized portfolio designed by you but if I have to ask you that for a young who started his career now and would like to put $10,000 now in TFSA which 5-8 stocks at present scenario you would suggest (which are not too expensive right now) to have a mix of Growth+Dividend on a longterm plan.

Presently which bank out of the 6 are best buy? RY, TD, BMO, BNS, CM or NA? Or if you suggest any other one which is best value right now?

Core holdings are the strongest stocks within my portfolio. The "Foundation" of my portfolio. Companies like Royal Bank, Telus, Canadian National Railway, TC Energy, Brookfield Renewables etc.

Whereas my non core holdings will consist of more speculative growth plays, and naturally make up a much lesser portion of my portfolio. Good Natured Products, Well Health, Dialogue Health etc etc.

Typically, I have no problem with a core holding making up 5-7% of my portfolio. Whereas speculative options, I typically limit them to 1-2%.

In terms of ETFs, there are so many it is very very hard to suggest some. But, something like XAW or VEQT gives you single click exposure to over 13,000 companies.

Realistically, with a $10,000 portfolio you have a few options. You can establish a base of core holdings, or simply invest into an ETF until you have more capital to branch out to individual options.

If you're looking for a set of starter stocks, look no further than our Foundational Options.

These are the cornerstone building blocks to a Canadian portfolio in our opinion, and we own the vast majority of them ourselves. In terms of options outside of Canada (as it is always wise to diversify outside of the country), we do have something like this coming soon for members, and we're pretty excited about it.
