Chip shortage

It will likely be a boost to the industry. Demand is simply too much for suppliers to keep up with because of changing habits due to the pandemic.

I don't expect these companies to catch up for quite some time. In fact, there is predictions that we could see the chip shortage make its way well in to 2022.

But in the end, the shortage is ultimately going to be good for producers, bad for companies that need the chips. Ultimately though, because of the shortage and increase in price, the consumer will be the one that pays the final bill due to increased prices in goods that require the chips.
