Hey there.
The CSE is essentially a junior exchange. It requires less stringent listing requirements as even the Venture, and especially the TSX.
Most companies list on here because they do not have the financial requirements, or the history to list on the TSX. And, most stocks on this exchange are smaller in nature, emerging growth companies. In some instances too, stock prices can be easily manipulated on this exchange, due to the smaller nature of the companies and less rules. Prime example, we saw VERY get halted due to the fact it was under the microscope for paying people on Youtube to promote the company's stock (we received an e-mail as well, but rejected)
A lot of these stocks have exploded in 2020 based on pure speculation. Companies with 0 revenue, forward looking estimates are all we really have to go off of.
To a lot of new investors, especially those who got into the markets this year, it seems like these speculative emerging growth plays are going to provide bountiful returns forever. This just isn't the case. So, that was a tweet to caution people about the dangers of investing a lot of money in these small, speculative stocks.
