Fossile versus renewable

Hi Coaches, I know it’s hard to tell but I have the question that’s on my mind for quite a while. I own CNQ, ENB, KEY, PEY and on the other end, FTS, EMA, BEP.UN, NPI. I know there will be a breaking point where renewables will be much higher (rewarding) than fossile combustibles. Do you see this in a 3-5 years or 7-10 years horizon ? We will have to eventually sell some fuel companies.

Thanks

I don't really see the transition happening that fast. Although we are expected to run out of most resources like oil and natural gas this century, the transition to renewable energy methods isn't just going to happen over the course of half a decade.

I think fossil fuels companies like Canadian Natural, Enbridge etc will remain very relevant even on your longest timeline mentioned of 10 years. Oil isn't going anywhere in that amount of time unless we get a significant shift to renewable power generation and a much larger movement than we're seeing now.

In 15, 20, 30 years? That is a different question, and one that I really can't predict the state of renewables in. It's just too far down the line.

Interesting talk by Mark Mills at the Energy Symposium - Jan '23. He comments - In human history we have never transition away from an energy source completely. We merely add more energy sources as we consume more energy and continue to use the original as well Wood and coal are still widely used throughout the world even as we added oil, gas and nuclear sources. His proposition is that this time will be no different. This would seem to solidly in support of your position Dan
