Gold exposure for beginner investor – individual stock or ETF?

Hi guys,
I’d like to diversify my portfolio and is looking into the gold/metal industry. I just started investing a few months ago and my risk tolerance is moderate.
I purchased a small position in KL and ABX recently and slowly watching it tanks lol

Although I understand the importance of having gold in the portfolio I’m wondering from your experience which option is better for beginner investor?
Lastly, what percentage of the portfolio would you recommend it to be gold-related?
