GOOG vs GOOGL

I get the basic difference that GOOGL has voting rights and GOOG does not. I have owned GOOGL for years just because it is slightly “cheaper” but I’ve always been curious why the shares with voting rights would sell at a discount. All I can see is the higher volume for GOOG making it more liquid, but volume of GOOGL isn’t exactly small either. I see Dan owns GOOG, just wanted to know what went into that decision. I’m sure I’m just overthinking this and it doesn’t matter, but thought interested in your opinions. Thanks.

It isn't the case right now, but typically GOOG has traded slightly lower than shares of GOOGL. The difference is absolutely minimal, but it did exist. RIght now they're closer in value.

This would be the reasoning I have owned GOOG. I don't care much about the voting rights and at the time of purchase, the miniscule difference in value was worth it to me.

This may be a bit of a case of overthinking it yes. Voting rights, especially with the shares most of us retail investors own, are largely irrelevant.
