GRT.UN.TO, CAR.UN.TO or both?

Hello there!

I have been wanting to invest in real estate for some time now, and after reading what you have to say about GRT.UN.TO, I think that’s a great option. My dilemma is that Granit is industrial, while Canadian Apartment Properties is residential. Would it be a good idea to invest in both as one focuses more on companies, and the other on homes for citizens if I’m looking to invest in RIETS? Or is having two RIETS a bad idea?

Thank you!

Having more than one REIT is not a bad idea, especially when they are in different sectors. Although Granite and Canadian Apartments are both REITs, they cover very different sectors. In fact, we'd encourage the diversification of someones portfolio when it comes to REITs so that they are not hyper-focused on one specific area of real estate.
