Hi there,
AMD is one of the better chip companies out there. While it pales in comparison to NVDIA's performance in the recent past, it has still benefited from the AI surge. It is very hard to value these companies right now. For example, AMD is trading at a near 100% premium to historical valuations. However, if we use NVDIA as an example, no matter how ridiculously expensive the stock looks, it continues to make new highs.
Recently, the government of China blocked the use of INTEL and AMD chips inside government computers. This will impact the company, but not nearly as much as INTC. In terms of Data Center market share, NVDIA has soared taking a huge portion of recent sales. While AMD has fared better than INTC, it still pales in comparison to NVDIA's growth.
I like the company and think it is a solid alternative to NVDIA however, still have a hard time with valuations. I think long-term, 5 to 10 years the company will be just fine and it does seem to be retreating a little (along with NVDIA). Still a little expensive for my risk tolerance but definitely a good company.
