Dan, thoughts on Northland Power after the big drop. Contrarian and maybe a speculative play perhaps. It is very discounted. Appreciate your thoughts

Company has had a difficult run over the last while. The other thing that investors are likely concerned with is the company didn't cut the dividend because it was unaffordable, but they cut it to

"to provide greater financial flexibility for self-funded growth while maintaining an investment grade balance sheet.”

So, they're taking money that used to be paid out as dividends and investing it back into the company. For utilities, a lot of people might get a bit upset about this. Utilities are well known for their income, and slashing the dividend for future growth aspirations will likely sour a good chunk of the shareholder base.

For a speculative investor, the cut may certainly present some value. The market will hammer companies that cut dividends. But yes, it is fairly speculative. At this point in time, the renewable company I really like is Brookfield Renewable.

I own the company and will be adding. I really like that they cut the dividend because they have so many growth opportunities. They have 3 new projects coming on line soon.
