Retirement ETF portfolio

Do you have any etf recommendations of 3-4 etfs to hold for a well diversified portfolio for someone retiring in the next year or two. Looking for a more conservative portfolio with a moderate growth profile.

Awesome.

On the Canadian end, the BMO low volatility Canadian ETF is one I'm finalizing a report on right now and should be done in a few days. It's a beta (volatility) fund that has provided relatively strong returns in the past.

If you're looking to hold a core portfolio of stocks with some ETFs you do need to be aware of overlap.

On the more passive/moderate risk side of things, you'd probably want to avoid sector specific ETFs. Think retail ETFs, semiconductor ETFs. They post more volatility and are a bit more concentrated.

Look into ZUQ (we have a report in our ETF section) and ZLB (I should have a report done in the next few days). These funds can potentially compliment a portfolio of individual stocks.

Strategy would be a core centre - a few solid foundational stocks with some picks outside that core, and I could sell assets to generate income. Want to avoid the yield trap you explained so well. Thx.

Hey there. If I get some more insight here I could probably give you some better shortlists.

Are you someone who is looking to generate income from the portfolio, or more so looking to sell assets to generate the income? There are so many funds these days that it's pretty important to know the strategy. If you give me that, could probably give you a list.

Thank you for the recommendations below, would the list change if I wanted the portfolio to generate income?
