Thoughts on Canada Nickel Co Inc CNC.VN

It’s been rising lately. I know Elon Musk was saying their next batteries should contain zero-carbon nickel and looks like this company is answering Elon Musk’s demand… They are building a 1 Billion dollars facility here in Canada to produce zero carbon nickel batteries
Any insight would be really appreciated. Thank you!

There really isn't much more insight to provide. This is a pure momentum play and the stock soared on that news - which in my opinion is a very dangerous place to be. I don't doubt that low emission mining is the wave of the future and the demand for nickel will remain robust, but a little known company with no mine operations is a risky bet.

The Crawford project in Timmins is a nice project - one of the 12 largest nickel sulphide resources in the world. The company is also aiming for it to be a zero-carbon operation. All great things.

However, at this point - it is all potential. The company is still in the drilling phase and it still has a long way to go to become a producing mine.

Worth noting, the company just completed an equity raise at a price of $0.35 per unit and warrants for the option to buy the stock at $0.57 for a period of 30 months. Given the recent spike, the company has since announced that it was moving up the warrant date to August 20, 2020. Obviously the company is taking advantage here and they may even attempt another equity raise given these high prices.

Bottom line - company with lots of potential and a potential takeover target - but also lots to prove.
