STOCKTRADES PRIVACY POLICY

Stocktrades Ltd (“Stocktrades,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy of individuals who visit our website at stocktrades.ca and use our services (collectively, the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your information.

Stocktrades Ltd is an Alberta corporation. This Privacy Policy is governed by Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where applicable, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

1.1 Account Information
When you create an account or subscribe to a membership (Stocktrades Premium or ETF Insights), we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Password (stored in hashed form)
  • Subscription and billing history

1.2 Payment Information
Payment processing is handled entirely by third-party payment processors (e.g., Stripe). We do not collect, store, or have access to your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other sensitive financial payment data. We receive only transaction confirmations and subscription status from our payment processor.

1.3 Portfolio Information
If you use our Portfolio Tracker, we collect the portfolio data you provide, including:

  • Stock and ETF ticker symbols
  • Share quantities and transaction prices
  • Transaction dates and types (buy, sell, dividend, etc.)
  • Account types and labels (e.g., TFSA, RRSP, Non-Registered)
  • Cash positions
  • Data imported via CSV upload or entered manually

This is investment portfolio data, not personal financial information. We do not collect or have access to your brokerage account credentials, bank account numbers, social insurance numbers, or tax filings.

1.4 Platform Usage Data
When you use our tools and features, we may collect data related to your usage, including:

  • Watchlist selections (ticker symbols you choose to follow)
  • Stock Screener and Heatmap filter preferences
  • Fair Value / DCF Calculator inputs and saved calculations
  • Questions submitted through the AI-powered Ask tool
  • Stock report views (Bull Reports, Foundation Reports)
  • Earnings Calendar, Compare Tool, and Industry Snapshot usage
  • Chart settings and preferences

1.5 Automatically Collected Information
When you visit the Platform, we automatically collect certain technical information, including:

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system
  • Pages visited and time spent on pages
  • Referring URL
  • Device type

1.6 Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for user authentication, session management, and core WordPress functionality. These cannot be disabled without losing access to member features.
  • Preference Cookies: Store your display preferences, selected filters, and tool settings to improve your experience.
  • Analytics Cookies: Help us understand how visitors interact with the Platform so we can improve our services.

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from accessing member-only features.

1.7 Newsletter and Communications
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in each email.


2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Providing Services: To operate the Platform, process subscriptions, and deliver the tools and features you have access to, including the Portfolio Tracker, Stock Screener, Watchlist, Stock Reports, and other member features.
  • Portfolio Analytics: To calculate portfolio performance metrics, generate snapshots, display holdings summaries, track income, and provide the analytics you request within the Portfolio Tracker.
  • AI-Powered Features: To process questions submitted through the Ask tool using third-party AI services (see Section 4).
  • Communications: To send you account-related notifications, subscription confirmations, and, if you have opted in, our newsletter.
  • Platform Improvement: To analyze usage patterns, diagnose technical issues, and improve the Platform’s features and performance.
  • Security: To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your portfolio data for any purpose other than providing and improving our services to you.


3. THIRD-PARTY FINANCIAL DATA PROVIDERS

The Platform displays financial data sourced from third-party providers, including but not limited to:

  • Luna API — Stock and ETF market data, screener data, and financial metrics
  • Yahoo Finance — Supplemental market data and pricing
  • TotalReturnsCache — Historical return calculations

When you use features that rely on these data sources (e.g., Stock Screener, Fair Value Calculator, Portfolio Tracker valuations, Charting Tools), your individual requests are processed through our servers. We do not share your personal information or portfolio data with these data providers. Data requests are made server-to-server and are not tied to your identity.

Financial data displayed on the Platform may be delayed by 15–20 minutes or more and is provided for informational purposes only. See our Terms of Service for full disclaimers.


4. AI-POWERED FEATURES AND THIRD-PARTY AI SERVICES

Certain analytical features are powered by third-party artificial intelligence services, specifically Anthropic’s Claude API.

We do not send your personal account information, portfolio data, or other personally identifiable information to AI service providers as part of these requests.

AI-generated responses are informational only and may contain errors or inaccuracies. They do not constitute financial, investment, tax, or legal advice.

Anthropic’s handling of data processed through their API is governed by their own privacy policy and data processing terms. We encourage you to review Anthropic’s privacy practices at anthropic.com.


5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES AND LINKS

5.1 Payment Processing
Subscription payments are processed by third-party payment processors. These processors handle your payment data in accordance with their own privacy policies and PCI-DSS compliance standards. We do not have access to your full payment card details.

5.2 Discord
We may operate a community Discord server for subscribers. If you join our Discord community, your participation is governed by Discord’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Information you share in Discord is not controlled by Stocktrades.

5.3 External Links
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.


6. DATA SHARING AND DISCLOSURE

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party vendors who assist in operating the Platform (e.g., hosting providers, email delivery services, payment processors), solely to the extent necessary for them to perform their services. These providers are contractually required to protect your information.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Stocktrades, our users, or the public.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, in which case you would be notified of any change in ownership or control of your personal information.

7. DATA RETENTION

  • Account Data: We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any legal obligations to retain certain records.
  • Portfolio Data: Your portfolio data (tickers, transactions, holdings, snapshots) is retained for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, portfolio data is permanently deleted.
  • Usage Logs: Technical logs and analytics data are retained in aggregate or anonymized form and are not linked to your identity after a reasonable retention period.
  • Newsletter: If you unsubscribe from our newsletter, your email address is removed from our mailing list promptly.

8. DATA SECURITY

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
  • Hashed password storage
  • Access controls limiting who within our organization can access user data
  • Regular security reviews of our codebase and infrastructure

No method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.


9. YOUR RIGHTS UNDER ALBERTA’S PIPA

Under Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to:

  • Access: Request access to the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correction: Request correction of any inaccurate or incomplete personal information.
  • Withdrawal of Consent: Withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Withdrawing consent may limit your ability to use certain features of the Platform.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information and portfolio data, subject to any legal obligations we may have to retain certain records.
  • Complaint: File a complaint with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (OIPC) if you believe your privacy rights have been violated.

10. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

The Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.


11. INTERNATIONAL USERS

The Platform is operated from Canada. If you access the Platform from outside Canada, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Canada, where our servers are located. By using the Platform, you consent to the transfer of your information to Canada and the application of Canadian privacy laws.


12. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, legal requirements, or other factors. When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy
  • Post a notice on the Platform for a reasonable period
  • For significant changes affecting how we use your data, notify you by email if you have an active account

Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
