Can an investment book value be different than the acquisition cost?

By chance I noticed that the BV of a particular investment showing on my broker’s statement doesn’t agree with what was paid for the same investment in the brokers activity report. Is that possible?

Hey there....yes, this is quite possible depending on the asset it is. You can typically see this when you have funds, REITs, and other investments with the return of capital distribution that adjusts one's cost basis.

What investment are you referring to?
