Hi,

I appreciate they are not the same in the energy space, but any preference between the 2 as an energy position?

Thanks!

Hey there,
I suppose it depends on what exactly you are looking for. For me, Pembina represents the safer choice. As a midstream company it is less susceptible to fluctuating commodity prices. However, Canadian Natural Resources is a best-in-class oil & gas producer and despite its volatility has been one of the best to own regardless of climate. I'd say, CNQ comes with additional risk since it is more susceptible to oil & gas prices, but on the flip side could deliver better returns.

So, I guess I can summarize my answer as the safer play is PPL, the riskier but higher reward is CNQ. It would be up to you to decide which is better based on your risk tolerance and current portfolio.
