The last time EDV gave out a dividend was in 2009, why did EDV hand out a dividend of $0.47 share today and will we be seeing consistent dividends in the future?

Thanks!

Hi there,

Many miners are beginning to reinstate dividends after suspending it many years ago. Why? The past decade they have focused on reducing debt and lowering their cost profiles. With precious metals trading at decades high, they combination of all three is now leading to returning cash to shareholders via the dividend.

EDV's dividend policy looks like a bi-annual one, so it will likely announce the dividend twice a year. Here is what to expect from its release

"Endeavour’s first dividend sets the path to a sustainable dividend policy, based on its capital allocation framework and its strategy of maximizing long term shareholder value. Following the payment of this first dividend, the Board of Directors expects to declare future dividends on a semi-annual basis, with the goal of maintaining a similar dividend yield until it has reached a targeted net cash position of US$250 million. Once that target is reached, the Company would be well positioned to re-assess its capital allocation priorities, which may include augmenting its shareholder return program."
