No problem Jeff! In terms of an ETF that tracks the Canadian market, I imagine you're talking the broader markets. There's many ETF's that track smaller portions, like XIT for example tracking Canadian tech stocks.

In terms of ETFs that track the broader TSX Index, the iShares TSX 60 ETF (XIU.TO) is no question the most popular. In fact, the ETF was the first in the world. It's been around since 1990. It tracks the 60 biggest companies on the TSX, giving you some very close returns to the overall index.

There's also a BMO product, ZCN, that aims to do much the same. Both these ETFs have similar performances, with XIU outperforming by 0.25% annually over the last decade.
