like for dear enbridge one can buy enb or enb-pb or enb-pd or enb-pf and so on..same with Fortis…fts ..fts-ph ..fts-pf and so on
and the prices of all the varieties are significantly higher or lower than each other.

which one of them is foundational and why

Hi there,

What are you describing are the different type of preferred shares that are offered by these companies. When we talk about any stock here, we are referring to the common shares of the company. These are the most liquid and most commonly traded shares in the company. In the case of the foundational stocks, it is the simple ticker - FTS or ENB in the case of those two companies.
