Foundations Stocks update - Stocktrades Canada

Greetings and thanks for your excellent service.

I have been dollar coast averaging into your foundation stocks list as my previous investments have focused on the US market. I have appreciated getting stocks like TD, Telus, and Fortis in discount pricing. I am a little wary of REI.UN but it sure has dropped in price! Other stocks such as BEP-UN and Loblaws don’t show up in any of your more recent stock pick lists or articles. I am curious if you guys would make any updates to this list as of today??

Hi there,

I don't think we would. Our foundational stocks (like the stocks on our Bull Lists) are added for the long term. The only way we would decide to remove a company from the list in 2020 is if something materially changed.

Although the pandemic has materially changed the outlook for REITs, we do believe that exposure to the Real Estate Sector is a must. In that regards, REI.UN still remains one of the best in class and is well positioned for the long-term.

It is also worth nothing, that most of our lists and the screeners are focused on growth stocks. Although our foundational list does have some companies growing at a decent clip, it is more focused on foundational stocks. These are blue-chip companies that we believe can be added at any time and that will deliver stable and reliable returns.
