GARP – iShares MSCI USA Quality ETF

What do you think of this fund? It has a lot of the familiar U.S growth names but with allocations based on “MSCI Quality” factors. It seems to have similar historical returns and Beta as a Nasdaq tracker but with a little less reliance on the biggest names.

I like this fund. I'm a big fan of factor funds overall.

The fund has been around for around 5 years and has outstanding alpha and risk-adjusted returns. The only difficulty is the last 5 years has been about as much of a cakewalk as you can get in terms of growth stocks.

I do like the fund. I'd arguably own it over a broad based US Index fund. However, I'd be very curious to see how much alpha it would provide with a more concentrated quality portfolio over an extended bear market or flat market.
