Hey there! Great question.
What exactly are you looking for? Individual stocks, ETFs?
Myself, I use ETFs like XAW.TO and XUU.TO to gain both international and US exposure. XAW is a massive ETF, with the top 10 holdings only accounting for 14% of total assets. The ETF essentially gives you worldwide exposure, excluding Canada in a single click.
XUU.TO is more for the US markets as it aims to track the S&P 500. The fees are a little higher on XUU than you'd think, primarily because they contain underlying ETFs which charge a withholding tax, but it's not something I worry about at all.
Both of these ETFs have double digit annualized returns over the last 5 years.
Or there is the alternative where you could use Norberts Gambit and change your CAD to USD and actually buy US ETFs. As the dollar strengthens a bit, this isn't as bad of an option as it was in say the heat of the pandemic when the Canadian dollar went under $0.70.
There are SO many options to exposure down south and across the globe that it would be impossible to list them all, and impossible to provide you a suggestion for your individual portfolio.
However, XAW and XUU are very popular options for Canadians.
