Hey there. To be completely honest, it was for the money. Wealthsimple was giving out (and they may still give out) gigantic welcome bonuses for swapping.
Qtrade is the better brokerage. More functionality, more tools available for investors.
However, I found with my access to Ycharts I didn't utilize the vast majority of tools Qtrade was offering. So when Wealthsimple approached me with the large transfer bonus, it was very hard for me not to say no.
I just saw what Wealthsimple was offering back in February 2024!……….WOW………I could have been rewarded with a Nice Winfall!………I’ll have to keep an eye for future offers!
It doesn't hurt to just reach out to them and see what they have to offer. I know some people (7 figure accounts though) that got paid over $5000+ to swap. It's... insanity to be honest. But makes it very hard to not switch.
It was a no brainer for me. They gave me $6600 for transferring approx 800K. Their customer service is much better than Questrade, they are more responsive
Thanks for your honesty Dan! Much appreciated! Not dealing yet with a 7-figure account!! Just thought I'd ask as you had really thought Qtrade was the best in the video I watched.

Would still consider Qtrade to be the best brokerage for the price. But I mean.... Nearly impossible to not switch for the money Wealthsimple is offering.
