I don't think anyone has given up investing. In fact, I think self-directed investing is as popular right now as it has ever been. Case in point, we've had over 2 million visitors at Stocktrades.ca in 2020 thus far.
In terms of direction, that's where things start to fall apart. A lot of people don't have direction, and they're simply investing without any sort of plan, portfolio strategy, return goals etc. Ultimately, most of these people will end up losing money because without a plan, there is a very large chance you'll make some mistakes.
There is a lot of financial content available to investors right now. The market crash has brought on a lot of new Youtubers, blog owners etc trying to take advantage of the surge in interest. The most important thing you have to do today is weed out the poor information from the strong information. I see far, far too many people listening to advice on things like Facebook groups and getting into deep trouble.
