Let’s say I would like to know how stock ABC performed over the whole year 2021, for example. I assume it’s based on the average price in one’s portfolio. Is it simply a difference between the stock price at the end and the beginning of the time period? What if you bought shares at multiple times throughout the year? How to calculate a good overall performance number? In Wealthsimple Trade, the only stock performance data is “daily”and “all time”, that gives a performance based on the average price. I guess other brokers have more in-depth numbers to know exactly how a stock performed? I feel like I’m missing something in my understanding. Thanks
