It is not a bad fund. It has underperformed a broader international index fund, likely due to the covered call element of the fund, but it's not the worst underperformance I've ever seen.

As a long term hold? I would say no. These funds are more so designed for those in retirement who want to generate income at the expense of total return. If you want long-term international exposure, I'd suggest just buying a broad based international index ETF and holding it for the long-term. No need to generate the income.

These funds serve a purpose for shorter time horizons. Longer ones, they tend to destroy value.
