Is it time to start trimming my position in Whitecap (Wcp.to)?

It’s had a good run and I’m a bit overweight but I like the stock and don’t really want to sell?

Hi there,

Well, I think you answered your own question. If you like the stock, your investment thesis hasn't changed and you don't really want to sell...then why sell? I guess it'll all depend on how overweight you are.

Personally, i've let stocks run up to about 10% of my portfolio before i decide ok, that is enough - need to trim. I think Dan has let stocks run even higher but he has a higher risk tolerance. So the answer lies within your own risk tolerance.

At the end of the day however, there is never any harm in booking some profits. We'd never fault anyone for booking gains as until you do, it is only a paper gain.
