What time frame is considered long term investing? 5+ years? 10+ years?

I like to believe that long-term investing is at minimum one business cycle. This can remove any short-term market fluctuations in the markets and also remove any cyclical price movements from particular companies.

Historically, a business cycle lasts about 5, 5.5 years. So yes I'd consider 5+ years a long-term mindset. Keep in mind, most of the positions I take in my portfolio are with the intentions of simply never selling unless something changes though. My overall mentality is much longer than 5 years.
