Hey there,
So NFTs themselves don't have anything to do with the stockmarket. While they can be bought and sold on their own exchanges, they don't have anything to do with the stockmarket. Much like Crypto - although there are products on the Stockmarkets that track crypto, there are companies on the stock markets that invest in NFTs as well, but it is very early.
Interestingly, Kevin O'Leary came out recently and said it is only a matter of time before Blockchain (the technology that underpins Crypto/NFTs) will become the 12th Sector of the Stock Market.
So the technology itself is Blockchain and that is going to change many of our existing internet technologies. Will it be a new way of trading stocks? Potentially, WonderFi (O'Leary's company) recently issues stock as NFTs - the first publicly traded company to offer its stock as tokens. So when we say its early - it is VERY early in the space.
NFTs are effectively going to replace current memberships, certificates, contracts, etc. Why? The technology that underpins NFTs (blockchain) makes it more efficient and non-fungible - which means it cannot be altered. It is our belief that all these old and exepensive systems built on old technology will be replaced.
NFTs are also being sold as a varying type of investments. Want to invest in a golf course? There is an NFT for that. Exclusive discounts, access to Restaurants, yep that exists. NFTs to access sporting events? Yep, that has been launched. So in effect, the use cases for NFTs are many. I'd suggest you go through the course multiple times. It'll take some time to get comfortable with all the stuff but there is no rush.
The next module (3) will talk about the varying use cases - like why should you hold an NFT - what does it get you - that may help deepen your understanding. If you are not in Discord, it is a good place to start. We have lots of conversations in there and many people are asking questions - some that may help you as well.
