Thank you Dan, as always glad i ask the question this give me more perspective and another way to look at those stock. I am from the province of Québec so Quebecor is very strongly present everywhere here the only real competition to them is Bell Canada i think that part of what drove me to look at Quebecor by default.

Food for thought like you said!!

Thank again very appreciated.

Hey there. Good question.

This really depends on what you're looking for. Quebecor is a smaller, regional play that is likely to provide higher dividend growth moving forward, and even capital appreciation due to a faster growth rate.

However, what you're sacrificing for faster dividend growth and potential appreciation is the economic moat that Telus does have.

You're talking about a $7.6 billion regional company in Quebecor vs a $35 billion giant in the Canadian telecom sector in Telus.

In most instances, purchasing two telecoms would likely be a strategy that wouldn't reap much benefits. It would be similar to owning both Railroads, one is likely enough, considering their dominant market share.

However, in this case with Telus being the blue-chip stable company and Quebecor being the smaller regional growth play, taking your total telecom allocation and splitting it between the two would make sense.

Business is unlikely to cross, as Quebecor seems to have no intentions of expanding out of the province and in Francophone communities.

Food for thought at least!
