Can you share your thoughts on this EFT
INVESCO S&P/TSX REIT INCOME YIELD ETF. I’m thinking of selling and wondering if this is the right time. I look forward to hearing your opinion and thank you!

With 20% of the fund made up of Choice Properties and RioCan, I can definitely see your logic for selling the fund based on your outlook for the real estate sector. Both these companies are heavily based in the retail/commercial sector which is expected to struggle moving forward.

If your thesis is that real estate is going to struggle and thus this fund is going to struggle, selling makes perfect sense. Which by the way, I don't think is that far fetched of a thought process.

As per a suggestion on selling it, obviously I'm not going to outright recommend a member sell or purchase something outright, as I know nothing about your individual situation.

However, one word of caution. Don't just chase a high yield. People get in a lot of trouble doing so. This ETF does yield 5.38%, so finding an ETF that yields more is more than likely going to be one that is depressed in price due to its exposure in financial/oil sectors.

For example, have a look at our dividend etf post over on our blog side

https://www.stocktrades.ca/best-canadian-dividend-etfs/

Most all of these besides HAL (which doesn't provide that big of yield) are underperforming by a wide margin.
