I terms of news - ouf - all over the place. With Ycharts, our subscription gets us access to reuters and AP in one place - so super easy now. But we have an enterprise version and one that is outside of the price point for retail investors.
Before this, my main sources were Globe & Mail (i paid), Reuters and for companies that i follow specifically, i could sign up to get notices from my broker. Also company websites usually have a place you can sign up. Finally, when in doubt I'd check SEDAR daily for updates.
I'd start with your broker and see if they have an option to sign up for updates based on your holdings or watchlist. That would be my starting point. Marketwatch has a pretty good site too for tracking general market news from companies. Its a free sign up and you can sort by news - that would probably be the next best option.
