Thoughts on Iamgold Corp.?

After a brief stint of strength, Gold in general has been showing weakness. In turn, this has dragged down the entire gold industry - IMG included. All this being said, the key macro factors that support a strong gold price remain in place.

There has been no notable news on IMG itself recently, so it is likely recent weakness is due directly to the volatile price of gold. It has made some changes to Board and sold its interest in the Sadiola gold mine - but this was previously known. If an investor bought into IMG recently, it is likely the investment thesis hasn't changed.

Of note, miners will always be more volatile that the price of gold itself, especially junior producers.
