Do you propose to hold all these stocks in USD on US markets or where available are you proposing to hold these securities in CAD on the TSX?

Hi there. That is pretty much all personal preference.

The CDRs, in which you can buy these US stocks in Canadian Dollars, have built-in currency hedging. It costs you 0.6% a year, but you won't be subject to the fluctuations in the Canadian and US Dollar. They also don't have initial foreign exchange fees and commissions if you're using Norberts Gambit.

However, if you want to buy the USD versions of stocks even when the CDR is available, that's completely fine too, you just won't have the currency hedging and you'll have to pay some commissions/forex fees.
