Hi,

What’s your views on FFN, they suspended dividend in Mar’20 and I saw the below article in which they declared dividend for the preferred shares but not for Class A shares. Not sure when they will restore dividend for our shares, need your views if this a share we should HOLD or sale. As on today’s price I’m able to get my money back without any gains.

Hi Shail,

North America Financial (FFN) is a split corps and is a very complicated holding - unless you have a deep understanding of these types of companies it is best to avoid. They use 'financial engineering' to lure investors with a high dividend yield. When times are good it works out fine but when its not, it can go sideways pretty quickly.

No idea when they would restore that dividend - it will depend on future raises. I have never invested in a split corp, and never will.
