What ‘sectors’ would you call rare earth and nickel mining, and also silver mining

Hi, I’m trying to organize my research and look at the sector breakdowns and major categories.. from here and morningstar… So I have a question about mining stocks in general ( a bit of an irrational interest of mine.. copper and nickel, rare earth) .. Would they be considered ‘basic materials’ as opposed to ‘coal’, which is energy, … and then there is silver and gold mining,.. I’m not sure where to put that, in some ways you could put it in ‘Financial Services” ? For example, a company like Canada Rare Earth Corp. LL , or Medallion resources MDL, or Jaeger Resources JAEG. I’m just curious, as I”m trying to categorize both the bull growth picks you are coming up with, and also some of my own. (trying to watch the sector/allocation distribution, should I decide to pull the trigger) Thanks.

Hey there Glen.

Most major silver/copper/gold/nickel/lithium etc companies will be defined as basic materials.

By definition, basic materials are "substances that occur naturally such as oil, stone, and gold."
