Hey there,
Yes absolutely. WHat happened with Cobre Panama is not in any way a failure on FNV's part. This is an event that was geo-political in nature and one that is very difficult to plan for. While it might set them back a little here, the company already lost ~20% of its value in the wake of the issues all while gold is hitting ATHs. This is not surprising since that mine accounted for ~20% of company assets.
For now, I guess you could say that it is baked it. There are multiple avenues forward for the situation in Panama which could eventually lead to compensation for FNV or even a mine restart. However, we are months if not years away from a resolution there.
It may take some time for FNV to recover, but it's share price already reacted as a result of the issue. Now, its time to move forward and FNV's management team still remains one of the best. The dividend is also not at risk in any way, since their payout ratios were ultra low and will remain very low even after stripping out all contributions from CP.
While it is certainly a disappointing outcome and situation, FNV is still a strong company.
